Penske group opens hi-tech New Zealand facility

Chairman of Penske Automotive Group, Mr. Roger Penske and the Mayor of Auckland Mr. Len Brown, have officially opened the all-new, state-of-the-art headquarters for Penske’s diverse operations in New Zealand.

Encompassing 17,748 square metres, the purpose built facility is Penske’s largest New Zealand operation, and brings Penske Commercial Vehicles and Penske Power Systems under the one roof to streamline operations, and deliver an enhanced customer experience.

The new Penske New Zealand facility will also deliver benefits to the local economy through the employment of more than 90 staff across apprenticeship, mechanics, and various professional service / business functions. The new site, located at 4 Langley Road Wiri, an outer Auckland suburb, will be home to market-leading brands including Western Star Trucks, MAN Truck & Bus, Dennis Eagle, MTU and Detroit. Another feature is a 1,466 square metre parts distribution centre, stocking an extensive range of parts and products across Penske Commercial Vehicle’s and Penske Power System’s portfolio, to ensure dealers and customers receive parts swiftly, keeping their businesses on the road.

Also on-site is the 1,939 square metre workshop with the latest equipment, technology, 16 service bays, two full-length service pits along with a full chassis dyno that will be serviced by a team of factory-trained technical specialists. Technical training is conducted on site to ensure staff, technicians and dealers around New Zealand receive the latest factory-backed technical training and information. Penske customers can browse in the aftermarket product showroom and select from the vast range of products to customise their trucks and relax in the dedicated customer lounge, featuring both showering and sleeping facilities.

The hi-tech facility was designed with one objective; to give Penske customers of today and tomorrow an unparalleled customer service experience. Speaking at the launch event Mr. Roger Penske said: “We are thrilled to grow our footprint in New Zealand with a state-of-the-art all-new facility in Wiri. This represents a significant investment for the company, and demonstrates our commitment to dealers and customers in the region.” Auckland Mayor, Mr. Len Brown was enthusiastic about the investment into the local economy by the Penske group. “Penske’s investment is a coup for local industry in Wiri, and the entire country.

The employment of 90 staff across apprenticeships, mechanics, engineering and professional services is another big plus for Auckland.” The new facility compliments Penske’s established Tauranga, Mt Maunganui location for Penske Commercial Vehicles.
